Céline Rouzet

For over ten years, Céline Rouzet has spent a great deal of time in Papua New Guinea, a country relegated to the bangs of the world, whose beauty and violence obsess her. She made radio documentaries (France Culture and France Inter) and investigations (Le Monde diplomatique) before moving behind the camera to make the documentary 140 km west of paradise, released in 2022 and selected in numerous festivals. Céline then directed En attendant la nuit, a fantastic family drama co-written with William Martin, released in June 2024 (Mostra de Venise – Orizzonti and Jury Prize at the Gérardmer Film Festival). She is currently writing her next feature film, Nuits blanches, with Hélène Bararuzunza, on themes such as fear of the Other and the savagery that lurks beneath the surface of ordinary life.

But in trying to do the right thing, she triggers a chain reaction that threatens the existing equilibrium: the balance of power shifts and fear takes hold of the expatriate group.
