Cargo Culte

Sélection Annuelle 2023

Co-written with Eric Forestier

Jo and Amal work at the Port of Le Havre and have struggled financially all their lives, even more so since the birth of their daughter. Desperate to escape their social condition, they have been observing a container trafficking operation for months: the signals, the communication between parties, and how they avoid customs detection. They are looking for a way to steal the contents of a container. As they prepare to move into action, Jo witnesses a brutal attack on the traffickers, leaving no survivors. Their opportunity has finally arrived: take the traffickers’ place, reproduce the signals, retrieve a shipment, and risk everything. But they will have to face a ruthless killer. They are willing to risk it all—for the chance of a better life.
