Halima Ouardiri

Halima Ouardiri, a Canadian-Swiss-Moroccan screenwriter and director, graduated from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montreal, Canada. Her first film, Mokhtar, shot on Super 16mm, was selected at more than a hundred international festivals including TIFF, Berlinale, and Rotterdam, and was later broadcast on France 3 as part of the Libre Court program. The film received numerous international awards, including several for Best Director and Best Film. Shot in a small village in southern Morocco, the film stars the villagers, many goats, and an owl. Of all the performers, only the owl was a professional actor.

In 2019, Halima completed a new short documentary, Clebs, which was screened at major festivals such as IDFA, Hong Kong, Message to Man, Viennale, and won around ten awards, including the prestigious Crystal Bear and the Special Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the 2020 Berlinale.

She is developing a feature film titled The Camel Driving School, which was selected for the 2017 Groupe Ouest Annual Selection, with Indie Prod (Paris).
