Lucile Hadzihalilovic

After graduating in art history and studying cinema at IDHEC, Lucile Hadzihalilovic and Gaspar Noé founded Les cinémas de la Zone. They went on to produce the medium-length film “La Bouche de Jean-Pierre”, which Lucile directed in 1996, and which was selected for Un certain regard at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2004, she wrote and directed “Innocence” (Best First Film at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Best Film and Best Cinematography at the Stockholm Film Festival…).

In 2014, she directed “Evolution”, co-written with Alanté Kavaïté (Special Jury Prize and Best Photography Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Best Director Award at the Dublin Film Festival…). And in 2020 directed, “Earwig”, co-written with Geoff Cox (Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastian Festival). She has also directed the short films “Good Boys”, “Nectar” and “De natura”. She is also involved in writing scripts for other films, including Gaspar Noé’s “Enter the Void”. She developed the feature film  “La Tour de Glace”, in le Groupe Ouest’s Annual Selection workshop.

Rose, 14, has always lived in a small mountain village. Her best friend, Lucas, 16, is an orphan like her. As children, they were fascinated by Andersen’s fairy tale, “The Snow Queen”, and dreamed of exploring the world like the two children in the story. Years later, the Snow Queen reappeared to them on the set of a film adapted from the fairy tale. Rose and Lucas meet Cristina, an actress as mysterious and attractive as the Queen she plays. When the film crew leaves, Lucas disappears and Rose is convinced that he has followed Cristina. So she runs away to find him…
