Magaly Richard-Serrano

Magaly Richard-Serrano was born in Vitry-sur-Seine, into a family of boxers and builders. Passionate about writing and film, she chose cinema and abandoned a promising career in boxing (twice French champion). After taking a literary baccalaureate with a film option, she went on to study art history, a field that has inspired her work to this day. She then set up a short film and institutional film production company with friends from high school, with which she produced her first short film, “Papa A tué un Ange”. This was followed by a second short film produced by Capharnaum, selected in several festivals. This was followed by internships and jobs as assistant director on film and TV shoots.

At the same time, for five years she worked as a cinema instructor for APCVL, running writing and directing workshops in so-called “sensitive” neighbourhoods. In 2000, the opportunity to join the Grand Atelier Scénario at the Fémis enabled her to lay the foundations for her first feature film, and to find a producer on the jury. A film she would not direct until six years later…. In the meantime, she became a scriptwriter, and in 2002 took part in the creation of the series “Plus Belle La Vie”. This was followed by a series of writing projects and various collaborations, then two children, then other films and TV movies… And more… who knows.

La Plus sauvage d’entre toutes

Annual Selection 2019

A group of women, aged between 35 and 50, friends for many years, set off on a horseback ride to Monte Negro. During the trip, the atmosphere is that of a summer camp, but they are disappointed when they arrive. They don’t trust their guide, the horses are nervous and the level of riding is much higher than expected… The relationship between them and the guide deteriorate… One night, one of the women is persuaded the guide is raping her girlfriend. She challenges him. The next morning, the guide has disappeared. They find themselves alone in an often hostile wilderness… They’re increasingly convinced that they’re being followed. What if it’s the guide trying to frighten them in revenge? Whether the threat is real or imagined, the hike turns into a Western-style man hunt.
