Colocs de choc

It often takes patience, courage and perseverance to complete a film project. Élodie Lélu knows this better than anyone, and twelve years after her time at Le Groupe Ouest as part of the 2012 Annual Selection for the development of this film, we are proud and happy to announce the release of her first feature film: “Colocs de choc” (Shock Roommates).

This refreshing and moving comedy tells the story of Manon, a sixteen-year-old introverted teenager, faced with an unexpected situation: cohabiting with her grandmother Yvonne, a former feminist activist with Alzheimer’s disease. Through this cohabitation, Manon discovers a world of memories and hidden stories, revealing the true essence of the women in her family. It is also an opportunity for her to learn, in turn, to embrace her identity and assert her place in the world.

Interpreted by Olivier Gourmet, Hélène Vincent and Fantine Harduin, the characters of “Colocs de Choc” make it possible to approach with lightness and sensitivity themes too rarely treated in cinema, such as addiction, disease, feminism, grief and self-acceptance.

Synopsis

Manon, a 16-year-old introverted teenager, is forced to cohabit with her grandmother Yvonne, a former feminist activist with Alzheimer’s disease. The situation becomes complicated when Yvonne, begins to take Manon for her daughter. Against all odds, Manon enters Yvonne’s delusions and plays the role of her mother that she almost never knew. It is an opportunity for her to discover the true story of the women in her family and to learn, in turn, to become one.­
