Eva Doesn’t Sleep
Pablo Agüero
Highly acclaimed at the Toronto International Film Festival and the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2015, presented as the opening film of the Berlin Critics’ Week in 2016, “Eva no duerme” (Eva doesn’t sleep) arrived in French cinemas in 2016. The film won the Sopadin Grand Prix award for Best Screenwriter, the Ciné+ and Cinéma en Construction awards in Toulouse, the director’s award in Amiens and the Balance d’Or (best Argentinian film of the year), as well as eleven Condor nominations (the Argentine Oscars).
This fourth feature film by Pablo Agüero was backed by the Breizh Film Fund: Fred Prémel and Laurence Ansquer, producer at Tita B Productions, a production company based in Douarnenez, received funding from the endowment fund for the co-production of this feature film. The film was also funded by our Italian partner, TorinoFilmLab, in 2015 (TFL Audience Design Fund).
Pablo Agüero, originally from Argentine Patagonia, has directed the short films “Far from the Sun” (Best Film, Cork Festival) and “First Snow” (Jury Prize, Cannes Festival) and the feature films “Salamandra” (Directors’ Fortnight) and “77 Doronship” (Best Director, Buenos Aires International Film Festival).
He was laureate of the Annual Selection of the Western Group in 2012 and of the Cross Channel Film Lab in 2013 for the writing of his third feature film, “The Witches of Akelarre”, and came to Plouneour-Brignogan in 2009 taking part in the international sessions with the TorinoFilmLab. The writer came to Brittany for a few weeks in 2010 to find inspiration for the writing of this feature film, “Eva no duerme”.
An independent and radical film to be discovered!
