The Channel

From 2015 to 2018, the Gan Foundation for Cinema and Le Groupe Ouest joined forces to create LA SÉLECTION. A privileged moment of discovery and exchange allowing emerging filmmakers and scriptwriters with new feature film projects to present their film ideas to producers or co-producers, to future professional partners beyond their usual networks. Sophie Gueydon took part in LA SÉLECTION 2017 with her film project “The Channel” (Le Prix du passage), then called “Natacha”, and signed with TS Productions (Constance Penchenat).

Synopsis

Natacha (25), a young single parent who works as a fast-food waitress, struggles to raise her 8-year-old son Enzo. Torn between a strong desire for independence and the comfort that her mother Irène unfailingly wants to provide for them, Natacha feels trapped. Her encounter with Walid, who is waiting to save enough money to pay for his crossing to England will open new horizons for her…
