LIM2025

... plugged into Europe’s palpitations

Published

In today’s deeply unsettling international context, LIM’s selection team had to face a raise of around 35 percent in the number of projects received from all over Europe and beyond. We see it as a good sign. A sign that troubled times push filmmakers to want to work together with the aim of giving all the strength needed to their films.

And we feel a sense of urgency among these projects, be it first features or film projects by more established filmmakers. As if filmmaking was an art that needed trouble to bloom properly. And this intense group of filmmakers clearly comes from a new geopolitical landscape. With an intense representation of talents and projects coming from eastern Europe and beyond: Poland, Romania, as well as projects coming from the Baltic states. And beyond the borders of E.U., Belarus, Turkey, Azerbaijan… Filmmakers often taking a stand against the meaningless violence around them. These projects will work hand in hand with up and coming filmmakers from Ireland, Italy, France, UK, Brittany, Switzerland or Belgium…

This year again, we have put ourselves back into the game by continuously trying to push the bar a little higher. We’ve been looking for those people who could grow wings to be able to fly a little further with their work as storytellers and filmmakers. And this year again, we’ve been helped in our quest for sharper development tools and intense digging for meaning, helped by our steady work with European researchers ranging from cognitive science to anthropology and sociology (www.storytank.eu). And the filmmakers display an incredible appetite for this rethinking of how we can work, of how to process and deepen the paths that allow them to deliver untold stories.

We believe that our responsibility is exactly there, in trying to help strengthen the voices of those who have the ability to make this world a better place through their films.

As a result, the films written during our LIM workshops are increasingly present and highlighted in the international panorama, they obtain awards and prestigious selections. While still in the development phase when reaching our yearly event LIM MEET, an impressive number of these film projects and stories find exciting producers often coming from the new generation. However, above all, with each passing year, we are excited with the slow rise of how people that come to work with us have something to say about the world, their world. They represent a very beautifull bet into what cinema is potentially becoming: a powerfull awakening tool for humans.

LIM introduces its latest cohort of Development angels

Central to LIM’s philosophy is a belief in collaborative development across the industry spectrum. Actively involving script professionals, producers, sales agents, and film fund managers, LIM | Less is More advocates for a holistic approach.

The twelve Development angels selected this year for LIM | Less is More are all professionals involved in the script development in their everyday life, eager to learn more about the creative process and ready to dive into it with all their vulnerability so as to walk along the writers’ side and share a common language.

By learning to give substance to feedback rooted in emotions and establishing a common narrative language, Development angels play a crucial role in shaping narratives, strengthening stories, and enhancing the overall creative development process.

In 2025, the Development angels will attend:
— a 2 days online session so as to learn more about LIM approach and tools
— a 3 days session on-site so as to apply those tools on specific projects and through set ups
— a 2 days tailor-made event, LIM MEET, during which they can meet the participants and Industry guests

And the twelve Development angels selected this year for LIM | Less is More are:
