Little Jaffna will be presented for its World Premiere in Venice!

Lawrence Valin’s debut film will be unveiled during the closing ceremony of the Venice Critics' Week.

With “Little Jaffna”, Lawrence Valin was a laureate of Le Groupe Ouest’s Annual Selection in 2018 and then of the Gan Foundation for Cinema in 2023. Now selected for the Venice International Film Festival, we are eager to discover this film about infiltrating Tamil gangs in Paris.

Co-written with Malysone Bovorasmy, Marlène Poste, Gaëlle Macé, Arthur Beaupère, and Yacine Badday, “Little Jaffna” is produced by Agat Films – Ex Nihilo & Mean Streets and distributed by Zinc.

The film takes us to Paris in 2008, following Michael Beaulieu, a young cop from the slums assigned by the DCRI to infiltrate a Tamil separatist organization in order to bring down one of its top financiers. But as he delves into this community, Michael gradually begins to identify with those he is supposed to destroy…

The Venice International Critics’ Week will run parallel to the Venice Film Festival from August 28 to September 7.
