2023 Annual Selection
They are arriving at Le Groupe Ouest!

The context of our world veering off track is their raw material. They are eleven writers / directors, eight projects selected from 250 candidates.
Some fully embrace genre filmmaking while others invent new intimate spaces, straddling fiction and documentary, or shaking up the codes of animated film, or examining the disappearance of the sacred. Then there is the one who escapes the prisons of a dictatorship, another urging us to love differently, those who turn to the past to question the present and another is taking us elsewhere, to the furthest tip of the shoreline…
They arrived this week on the blustery beaches of Plouneour-Brignogan (Brittany), to be guided by the devoted Groupe Ouest mentors — Lucile Hadzihalilovic, Leyla Bouzid and Delphine Gleize — alongside the Quebec screenwriter Marcel Beaulieu. Their journey includes four one-week residencies in Finistère, monthly text submissions, intimate “Tell Me a Story” sessions by the fireside, and presentations before local villagers.
Working closely together, they will uplift one another, strengthening each other’s visions, shaping their stories, making their worlds grow deeper, so their films, how ever unique, may reach and connect with audiences.
