The Origin of the world

My project has two levels. It is a movie within a movie.

There is Marie, aged 30, six months pregnant, a young director who is writing and preparing her movie.  She has been selected in Emergence and has to shoot a scene of her movie.  But her mother announces to her that she is affected by severe cancer.  Marie gives birth then prematurely.  The child dies and Marie does not make her movie.

The second level is the mental projection of the movie that Marie wishes to direct.  It is the story of Malika, a 20-year-old French woman of north African origin.  She escapes an arranged marriage.  She is going to be forced to have her hymen restored.

The story of Malika is the mental projection of Marie’s difficulties. If Malika is able to change from girl to woman, Marie will not be able to move from woman into mother.
