The incredible village of Dullwich on sea
Cross Channel Film Lab 2014
Cowritten with Jamie Stone & Produced by Sophie Vickers
When a picture-perfect English fishing village is threatened by an all-powerful corporation looking to turn it into a theme park, the villagers decide to take matters into their own hands – unbeknownst to 13-year-old Michael, who has been sent to Dullwich-on-Sea to spend the summer with his grandfather Burt. Michael soon finds out that the sleepy, uneventful summer he was expecting will be anything but: his grandfather is the mastermind behind the plan to save the village, by severing it from the mainland and taking to the high seas.
But Burt and the villagers could never have predicted the challenges that they would face, and have to overcome on the journey. From encounters with pirate ships, to freezing arctic temperatures, as well as old rivalries from within the village resurfacing, and the pernicious presence of Arthur, the son of the Corporation head, who has his eyes firmly set on sabotage. On the voyage to Florida, Michael and the villagers will learn important lessons about family and friendship, strength of will over brute force, and that home is definitely where the heart is.
